Talk about the catch of a lifetime! Over the weekend, NFL wide receiver Ramel Keyton of the Las Vegas Raiders reeled in something most anglers only dream about—a massive great white shark off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Big Catch
Keyton was out on a fishing trip with his mother, Salena Starr, and Captain William Daley of Fishing Headquarters when the jaw-dropping moment happened. What started as a quiet day on the water turned into an unforgettable fight with one of the ocean’s most legendary predators.
“We were sitting there for about an hour without much action,” said Captain Daley. “We got one little bite, and then suddenly, the rod bent in half. My mate Dave started working the reel, and we knew right away—this one felt different.”
And different it was. Keyton, who had hoped to hook a big fish, got more than he bargained for.
“I literally just said I wanted to catch something big,” Keyton shared. “Next thing I know, I’m fighting a great white shark. Unreal.”
The Fight of a Lifetime
Keyton battled the shark for roughly 30 minutes, putting in serious work to bring it up. His mom captured it all on video, cheering him on and laughing with excitement as the massive shark surfaced.
“He’s been fishing since he was five,” said his mom. “His granddad got him started, and to see him land a great white shark today—it was just incredible.”
Keyton even joked about the effort it took to haul it in:
“Man, it felt like a full workout. No joke. I’m gonna feel that one tomorrow.”
