Florida Woman Drowns After Jumping from Moving Boat

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Kendra Potter, a 42-year-old woman from Englewood, Florida, drowned after voluntarily jumping from a moving pontoon boat. The incident took place at around 3:30 p.m. at the 45-mile mark of the lake's main channel.

According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Potter was aboard a 2024 Lowe SS270 pontoon when she jumped into the water but did not resurface. She was not wearing a life jacket at the time. Emergency personnel, including the Gravois Fire District, responded to the scene, but despite immediate efforts, her body was not recovered until Monday, October 7.

The incident is a reminder of the importance of safety precautions when boating, including wearing life jackets, especially in moving vessels.
